She/Her
She/Her is an exploration of the female identity.
This series started as an exploration for my own personal journey. Processing my identity as mixed race, female & woman. Separating from the roles and expectations those identities have been given & that I have taken from the environments I have been in. I wanted to discover and reconnect with who I am, and felt a need to do this through the exploration of the women in my family - grandmothers to my daughters.
When looking at the people and environments we are formed by, often we see the things we want to change or do differently. With this creative journey I wanted to identify & honor what I want to keep, bring forward from inside, celebrate & honor. The things about the women in my family that challenged, inspired and called me forward.
Heritage, lineage, generational.
Most of the things the women in my life have given to me are things they didn’t or don’t even realize.
The most powerful gifts were the moments I saw THEM - I saw their love, the things they loved, the ways they loved, the moments they loved & when they loved themselves. Love brings us forward.
There is so much strength, talent, intelligence, love & inspiration I experienced and found in them, and too often I have seen the roles & expectations of gender, race & culture hinder them from fully being.
And I want to celebrate those things that didn’t feel safe to celebrate, felt one couldn’t celebrate and didn’t see the environment outside of me celebrate. I want to acknowledge what I have always felt from the inside.
Carry forward. Passing to the next gen.
Doing what the previous didn't, for various reasons.
When I do it for myself, I do it with them, my backbone.
And I deeply hope the viewer will find & honor their own identity. Honor the women in their life, biological and not, that have given to them.
Celebrate what makes your heart stir. And may that celebration broaden your boundaries.

A Compilation of Lyrics, Quotes & Original Additions
You feel better now that you have someone to blame?
Did I disappoint you?
Have you come here to play Jesus?
You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl
And I can’t be holding’ on to what you got
When all you got is hurt
Silver will never feel like gold
I wish I wasn’t born a woman
Are you going to kill me?
You’re trying to kill me.
Even the clouds get lonely
But you will not stay.
How can I love what I will loose?
Don’t make me choose.
Dancing on the fallen fruit.
Say what you want, lady
Speak from your gut, honey
Speak my love
Act like you know who you are
Speak - be free
Speak from your soul, sugar
Be free - my love
I know that a gift so great is only one that God could create
I’m in love, but not with anyone here
See you in a couple years
So put me on the highway
Take it to the limit
When you’re looking for your freedom, nobody seems to care - and you can’t find the door
Show me a sign
She is endless
Imagine
I like the way you sparkle
To the ones who came before us
All the golden ones who were lifted on a wing
